The Dry Boys of Albany was founded in 2021 with a clear focus: be the Capital Region's most-responsive, most-documented, most-honest water damage restoration company. Owner John Snyder built the company around a simple commitment — when a homeowner is in crisis at 2am, a real human answers the phone and a real crew shows up fast.
Owner John Snyder and Project Manager Dan Boisclair bring more than 30 years of combined industry experience to every job. Between them they've handled thousands of water emergencies — from frozen-pipe ruptures in Saratoga Springs to sewer backups in Troy to mold remediation behind walls in Schenectady. That depth shows up in how we scope a job, how we document for insurance, and how we know when something is actually dry.
What Makes Us Different
Specialists, not generalists. Most water damage in the Capital Region is handled by general contractors who add restoration as a side service. We do this work and only this work. Every truck, every piece of equipment, every team member is dedicated to water damage, mold remediation, structural drying, and disinfection. That focus translates to faster diagnosis, tighter execution, and a much higher likelihood your insurance claim goes through clean the first time.
Real IICRC certification. We're an IICRC Certified Firm — meaning the company itself meets the Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification's standards for training, equipment, ethics, and operating procedures. Our drying protocols follow the IICRC S500 standard. Our mold work follows IICRC S520. These aren't decorations — they're the documented playbook every job follows.
Owner-answered phones. When you call 518-788-7261 you get a person who knows the field, not an answering service taking a message. That matters at 2am when water is rising. It matters at 11am when you're trying to get a coherent answer about whether the carpet is salvageable. We've made answering the phone an actual operating priority, not a customer-service slogan.
Insurance-direct billing. We document every job with FLIR thermal imaging, moisture readings logged daily, photos at each stage, and an itemized scope report formatted for your carrier. We bill the insurance company directly when coverage applies, which means most clients write a check only for their deductible.

John Snyder · Owner. John leads the company and is on the phone, on the road, and on most jobsites across the Capital Region. With more than two decades in restoration and environmental work, John's seen every variation of water damage the Northeast can produce — burst pipes, ice dams, sump failures, sewer backups, hidden leaks behind walls, basement flooding from spring snowmelt. His standard for "done" is moisture meters reading dry, not "looks dry."
Dan Boisclair · Project Manager. Dan runs the day-to-day on jobs, manages crews, coordinates with insurance adjusters, and is often the technician homeowners deal with directly. Multiple Google reviews mention Dan by name — Shishir Dwivedi called him "very knowledgeable and honest about the right way to handle these issues." That reputation is earned one job at a time.

The Dry Boys of Albany serves 11 counties across the Capital Region and surrounding upstate NY: Albany, Schenectady, Saratoga, Rensselaer, Schoharie, Warren, Washington, Columbia, Greene, Fulton, and Montgomery. From our 4 E Vatrano Rd headquarters, we reach core Capital Region cities — Albany, Colonie, Guilderland, Troy, Schenectady, Saratoga Springs — within an hour. The outer counties (Warren, Columbia, Greene, Fulton, Montgomery) are routinely covered same-day.
